EPSDT and Title V Collaboration to Improve Child Health: Web-based
Technical Assistance Tool: Specifically tailored for
State Title V programs on the State and local levels, this
tool provides important information about the EPSDT Medicaid
benefit and about opportunities for collaboration between
Title V and Medicaid to improve screening and treatment rates.
The web-based TA tool also provides information on how the EPSDT benefit is administered, the reporting process, family
support strategies, and specific policy and legislative issues.
Maximizing
the Use of EPSDT to Improve the Health and Development of
Young Children: This second Project THRIVE describes EPSDT with a focus on young children ages birth to 5 and
offers tips for using the program in state Early Childhood
Comprehensive Systems to improve early childhood health and
development, state performance rates on child health, and
collaborative efforts with other federal and state programs
and services. While in theory EPSDT guarantees children coverage
for a full range of services, in practice, screening and
referral rates fall short of the 80 percent screening benchmark
set in 1989. State ECCS initiatives can use interagency coollaboration
to improve EPSDT performance and child health access.
